Citizen Journalists __HURRAH! GO! PUBLISH to the World

Here is the BBC link to the article today  that inspired this entry:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7618092.stm

I love the BBC and they know it! That article is about citizen journalists capturing events on their cell phones to show the world what is happening there. It seems to me that the nations that hope to have liberty have to engage the citizens and they have to listen to them and they have to endure the turmoil of a situation that is roughly akin to a simmering pot on the gas heat stove, that is hot to touch emits a gas smell, [stinks] and that boils over at times but it accomplishing something. And they have to look at the photos from the citizens to see what is the truth and not only the government canned version of what they want you to know.

I am absolutely an advocate of a free and unregulated Press in every nation, where the citizens have the 'right' to publish their thoughts, their words, their reactions to government decisions, their protests to government and yes, the times the government went astray and betrayed the people. I also protest when I know that a government arrested a bona-fide reporter or even a citizen reporter in the form of a blogger and cry 'Foul" loud and clear. It is not the duty of any good government to harass and persecute the citizens or try to silence them. The nations of the world are waking up to this reality, and that wonderfully written article by the BBC is proof of it. Read it.
